Tip #2: Covering up For the RA or GA that is a POA...here's how to avoid detection.
Remember your basic atmospheric science, hot air rises, cold air falls; and plan appropriately. Cold air also is denser, and more likely to want to move lower. So, if you live above the first floor, your problem with detection will be downward. If you live garden level or on the first floor, the heat from your dorm/apartment will take the smell upward.
So take that into mind...
Vent appropriately.
On upper level floors, roll a towel up and wet it (to help seal the towel from leaking air through) and put it under the door. Cigarette smoke helps to cover it, but that's becoming increasingly unpopular and in some dorms outlawed.
So what should you do?
Get a bowl. Don't smoke a joint, nor a blunt. Get a metal one with a cover. Metal is easier to clean with some rubbing alcohol or peroxide. It also won't break open, sending millions of hash oil covered shards all over your dorm room, making the entire room smell like the bottom of the bowl. Bongs spill, no matter how careful you think you'll be. Bong water is the worst.
Well, get a toilet paper roll or even better a paper towel roll and stuff some drier sheets into them. Exhale through that, to cover the smell and to absorb some of the oil droplets in the smoke.
To cover for the raw smoke that escapes, get some incense or some of the more advanced sprays that fog the air and bond with the smoke. And, as keep the music at an appropriate level. Don't attact attention.
Note: If you live in a suite, and it's cool with all of you, have one room set up for smoking that you can customize, and cross through the bathroom. Have a tiny cup of bleach in the bathroom to cover the smell, (not to mention making the bathroom smell clean). Then you can exit through the other door with a lot less of a problem.
